Paris and Belgrade - two centers of Russian emigration, which after the 1917 revolution reached most of the Russian nobility and intelligentsia. Among the huge list of names, you can find the names of Russian artists, architects and artists. Someone found in Europe, his second homeland, and somebody has suffered a lifetime of grief. B

1920 with the first wave of immigrants came to Serbia and wonderful, almost unknown in the Russian artist Spiridonov Kolesnikov. In our time, his artwork slowly find their admirers and buyers: at antique auctions landscape artist go for a very decent money, and Serbs believe Kolesnikova their national treasure. And no wonder, most of his paintings is precisely in Serbia, where he was well received in a secular society, and have done a lot of work to order and even painted the ceiling of the National Theatre in Belgrade ...

Contemporaries noted the extraordinary "salability" of his paintings and a constant demand for them in the art market, and that "... Kolesnikov became too similar to itself and therefore not original ..." (Podstanitsky, 2003).

In 1919 (1920?) Kolesnikov moved to Serbia, where he was received at the court of the King of the Serbs, Croats and Slovenes Alexander I. Unable to work, he was forced to hire two young artists who performed very general outline paintings, Kolesnikov after adding some details and sign work.

A severe blow for the artist was the government's decision on the destruction made them the ceiling at the National Theater (at the beginning of the 1950s it was painted over with oil paint). In May 1955, he was gone. Stepan Fedorovich Kolesnikov greatly appreciated Ilya Repin. History has preserved for us a few of his letters to the artist. One, the most interesting, clearly characterizes the ratio of Repin's creativity Kolesnikov:

"Dear Stephen, I'm sorry, I forgot your patronymic. All morning today Enjoy the pictures of your work, now only left the Jura; with him again with a strong, a good lamp is once again considering your entire exhibition. Oh! What you excellent artist. Very, very thank you and your letter is good, the beautiful, and photos. Jura especially from the horses, and I love the horse, and we - just feasting! Thank you! Thank you! And I do not know how to thank Ivan Stepanovich Maykovich! What, however, he is a poet. But here begins my grief: for I do not know the language! And how much gives Serbia! Hail! Hail! ..
